My 26 years in the Sea Org
|Carol Nyburg (Vedder) at Flag|
On November 3rd, 1982, I arrived at Flag to join the Sea Organization. I was met at the front door by none other than Wayne Baumgarten. That is how long I have known Wayne. He was, at the time, in charge of all the new recruits. I arrived with my 1 year old daughter, Nancy. No one was more excited than me to be at Flag and to be in the SO. I didn’t care what post I got I just wanted to do my part in helping the Planet be a better place to be.
My main reasons for joining this group besides helping the Planet were I felt I would be better understood and I wanted my daughter to be in a drug free environment.
I lived where all the families and people with children lived. It was an old Quality Inn Motel. I had my room and lived there for 20 years. My children grew up there! In 1984, I remarried and had a son while in the SO. I had a car and we drove in to work each day. We started at 9 am. We came home for family time every night between 5:30 pm and 8 pm. These were great times. There was a pool and Florida gets really hot. The pool was always filled with staff and kids, plus if you had a car, you could go shopping, go out to eat or just spend time with the kids playing and sometimes I took a little nap. I always felt great when I went back to post. It was the ideal break in the day. Then most of us worked till about midnight. Course as a young mother, I had to take care of the kids and be up with them in the night and all the things a mother endures. Our meals were prepared for us. So I had two meals at the QI and lunch at the Flag Base at this time. I had a mini kitchen in my room, microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot and I put in little cupboards. I really made a cute space and it felt like home. I did everything I could to create a homey and fun environment for my kids.
I had my car at work, so if I needed things I went and handled at my lunch time, plus I would go shopping after work. No one was watching my every move. I was trusted and trustworthy. After all I was a Flag staff member, regarded as the very top group besides the staff of international management. I had fun and really enjoyed these days. If your statistics were up, one could get a liberty every two weeks. I got them often and really made the most of these times, sometimes taking off on Friday night and going to Orlando to spend Saturday, and be back on post by Sunday morning. My Story ~ My life within and without the church of scientology
by Ronn Stacy, ‘Alaska Ronn’
It’s hard to know where to begin, and yea, long story.
I’ll start with a brief history pre- Scientology. Drugs, Inc. Youth gone awry, as too many of us went 60’s & 70’s. I did enjoy some of it, although who can remember why? Spiritual enlightenment… Nirvana? For me it became a spiritual quest in fact, Timothy Leary, Tibetan Book of the Dead, et al. Several weeks of 1973, age 19, in and out of the likes of psychiatric reality, at the hands of family who were trying to save me from the drug culture. Bless their hearts. It took months, but I eventually realized the game, that the only way out was admitting they were right and I was wrong.
The whole affair was short lived but unfortunately necessary to tell the rest of my story.
That bit of life, far behind, thanks in no small way to L. Ron Hubbard’s discoveries, the Reactive Mind, the Purification Rundown, Scientology Drug Rundown and further rehab with Scientology studies and auditing. I realized in an auditing session many years later, looking all this over, I was indeed fully responsible for that situation and my condition. To me it was never that big of a deal except that I knew I had to come clean and deal with it before moving onwards as a Scientologist.
To be fair to myself, it wasn’t all just drugs and rock & roll. I was quite able and productive, had become a Gov. certified weldor by age 18. And for 7 years worked at such lofty positions as a weldor for the Naval shipyard in Pascagoula, putting together quarters (ships are built in quarters) of war ships the size of large office buildings, or welding locomotive frames and helicopter rides to offshore platforms in the Gulf.
Home from one of those young life adventures, a close friend handed me a copy of DMSMH by LRH. Mid 70’s. I read enough to realize it was the road I had been looking for. I realized about then too that peyote & naked hippie chicks did not equate to Nirvana; though at times close… what can I say.
So I threw away my flower power and found Scientology. No Mission near me, so I found more LRH books in libraries, Dianetics 55, Science of Survival, The History of Man (right down my alley at that time…lol ).
By 1978 I had thought up a getaway, away from dead-end friends, the military of all things. I figured it would get me away from the scene I had grown up around and put some structure and discipline in my life – my actual thoughts at the time. Read the rest of this entry »
Tel Aviv, 3 December 2012
To: My friends of 30 years, Scientologists in Israel and world-wide
I discovered Scientology in 1979. I progressed steadily on the Bridge and today I am an OT5. I apply Scientology every day and in all areas of my life.
In the years 1986 to 1993 I lived 7 years in Norway and Denmark where I opened a branch of U-Man, a company for testing personnel which operated under a WISE license. My company gave services in Norway and Denmark. During those years I was on lines at AOSH EU and did my OT5. In 1991 I went to Flag where I did L11.
In 1993 I returned to Israel and a year later joined staff at the Tel Aviv Org where I served as the Public Relations Officer for two and a half years. At the same time I worked with children with study and behavior difficulties, applying LRH Study Tech. Today I work as an educator, continuing to apply successfully the Tech.
I came to Scientology in 1979 following a friend of mine whom I have not seen half a year. I observed in him amazing changes. His communication improved tremendously, he became effusive and full of affinity, bright, well-spoken. I wanted this too. He took me to the Scientology “Shalom” Center on Ha’Yarkon Street in Tel Aviv. A small place, packed full with people, busy and happy. People were smiling, coming and going.
“What is this?” I asked. They said, “Scientology.” “And what is that?” I continued. They answered, “It’s a philosophy to make the able more able.” I listened, I looked, I came and I won … The Communication Course was amazing. The tiny course room was packed full … if I did not come on time, I’d have to sit on the window sill. And the wins were accordingly huge.
Every piece of Tech, even the smallest, changed me into another being, more able – just like LRH promised. “What is true for you is what you have observed yourself.” This sentence alone rehabilitated my whole beingness. And since then, no person could ever enforce upon me his reality or his “truths”, if I did not observe them myself.
“Look, don’t listen” – Wow! This was an acknowledgement to my existence. From that moment on, no teacher, parent or leader, could tell me, using authority of age, experience or education, something that I have not seen or experienced myself and forced me to agree with him. That was a life-changing win!!! That was one sentence that I really understood.
And since then, there were quite a few things I did not agree with – even when reading Scientology materials. I never hesitated to go to the Course Supervisor or to the Ethics Officer at the Org or to any Tech Terminal, and express before him my disagreement. Knowing that his response will be: listening to me and showing me the proper materials, LRH references, asking me to look at more data. Usually I could see things from a new viewpoint and then agree (or not…) because I saw or realized. No one forced his views on me, no one showed me phrases out of context, no one threatened me and I was never afraid to talk … I am still not afraid! Back then, I did not have to calculate how much my thoughts will cost me in hours of “ethics investigation” before my next step on the Bridge. Read the rest of this entry »
The ultimate irony is that my RPF experience made me a Scientologist, and, it made me divorce myself forever from the corporate Scientology organization which practices reverse Scientology and creating people who become the opposite of what L. Ron Hubbard intended with auditing.
The below are some not so coherent and chronological comments but nonetheless some notes of my RPF experience at Flag after leaving the Int base after 17 years of service there.
I left Gold at the height of insanity in late November 2006 and no RPF outside of the Int Base could even start to match up to the conditions at Int – the RPF at Flag was a holiday in comparison, but that doesn’t make the RPF right, it was just from my own perspective.
The original idea of the RPF as covered in the LRH advices and FOs about the RPF make some sense to me. Instead of off-loading an R/Sing staff member who was dramatizing his R/Ses on the organization, or being a chronic overt-product-maker, had a voluntary free choice of doing the program or getting off-loaded. It was for extreme cases where regular Qual, ethics and justice, hatting etc, had not created a change in destructive behavior.
For those people they were supposed to get a PTS Check, a check for evil purposes on all dynamics and anyone with a List 1 R/S [List #1 Rock Slam – meaning having exhibited a rock slam while checking a list of items related to LRH and Scientology] would get EX DN [Expanded Dianetics] or OT III or NOTS pending on case level.
This was 1974. A PTS Check in 1974 was a metered interview where you established if the person was PTS on the meter and if so to whom. Later the PTS Check materials got cancelled and the new “definition” for PTS Check was a 10 August interview as well as the PTS/SP course and the PTS Rundown – now all C/Sed for on the RPF, adding months to the program.
The original time frame of an RPF program was a few months. A month or two for training (if you were not trained already) and another month or two for the C/S’ed program. You did it 5 hours a day in a co-audit with technical supervision and worked 8 hours a day on deck work for exchange. Read the rest of this entry »
After Many years I am back on lines ! To all my friends and acquaintance, hello. Those of you who wondered how come I disappeared from your familiar scene, or why I am not active in the subject which was always important to me and close to my heart: spiritual work and development, here is finally the official explanation. despite the various events, difficulties and twists, it is important for me to state that in the end of the day, this is a happy story and full of hope. The first part, is the story in brief. In the 2nd part there’s an elaboration and further details on important points for those interested.
The story begins 30 years ago. London UK 1982, where I lived. After years of amateur search for self and for answers to questions of existence, matter and spirit, and after a fascinating journey to South America I came across the book “Dianetics”. In all the preceding years I looked around and asked questions: All that we see and hear around, is that all or there is something beyond these things, some other reality, some additional value? By chance and in an haphazard way, I had one day a huge, far reaching and life transcending spiritual experience. I understood and knew that I was a spiritual being encompassing incredible abilities and depths. And that’s what I was. This experience and transformation were totally relevant, but there was a problem of stability. It was not stable. I didn’t know exactly how it happened and so didn’t control it. The result was that it all started to collapse and disappear gradually, almost all the way back.
Back to the book “Dianetics”, which really impressed me: A. because it was a precise manual on the subject of existence. B. it stated that the essence of the work described in it was to reach stable results, not onetime. Moreover, it described inner work which goes deep and all the way, without compromise. And this was the difference between it and just another philosophy book. I had to check if this manual worked. I went into the London org and asked to try. I was offered small courses to start with. I insisted on something stronger, deeper; if to try, why not do it seriously? The course HQS was the choice, the one in 1982 was big and serious. (later it was changed). It had most of the basic principles of Scientology like: How to study, how to coach, communication drills on a good level, demos, tone scale, obnosis, cycle of action, assists, Objectives and more. And of course giving and receiving auditing. A serious and amazing course. Compared to previous studies in ordinary schools, quite differently, the course made clear that every theory studied, had to be drilled and applied until good and clear results were achieved. No more meaningless study of theories without aim. This was an applied philosophy which influences and improves life immediately. And at the end, giving and receiving auditing. Not easy, quite complex, and you had to apply all that you have learned and drilled, but the feeling was fantastic. Life has changed, the world has changed, Scientology works, big time. Anything clearer or simpler? And then a short Dianetics course, first session, everything worked by the book, the PC returned back to a basic Engram in a long chain, complex session, difficult but heroic, PC had the biggest win of her life. A big load has come off her shoulders, and she said she could easily fly through the window into the sky… Spiritual work Indeed. What is going on here? What is this thing which works so well? And then, still in London 1983, professional TRs course, intensities grow and so are the wins. “The ability to handle anyone by communication alone”, is just one of EPs of the course. And that exactly what happened. Life and ME keep changing.The world turns more into a red carpet under my feet and less a heavy cloud above my head. And there is hope. Much.
Letter to All Scientologists.
15 November 2012
From: Don Schaul
Ex- Qual Sec Malmo Ideal Org
Class V Auditor & C/S
A MESSAGE TO ALL MY SCIENTOLOGIST FRIENDS AND OTHERS
DOUBT CONDITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear Scientologists and friends,
I am writing this letter to you after a long period of silence from my side. Most of you did not know what is happening with me or what am I doing in present time.
The following is my story. A part of you already know it. It is worth telling to those who are not familiar with it.
As of now, I am 18 years old only and I am a Class V Auditor & Case Supervisor (Validated). I have also completed many other courses, such as different OEC Courses, the Hubbard Data Series Evaluator’s Course, etc.
My passion with Scientology started already at the age of 6. A few years later I represented Scientology as a very young Human Rights activist which created huge outflow for Scientology, LRH and Human Rights in Israel. I appeared a few times on all three national TV channels in Israel. Most of you remember me as that little kid.
At the age of 12 I already knew that LRH’s tech was what I wanted to work with, in this life.
I convinced my parents and they allowed me to study and acquire Scientology training. I did most of it at the Johannesburg Org, South Africa.
At the age of 14, I was the youngest trained Case Supervisor on the planet.
I returned to Israel as soon as I completed my training. I started auditing my family and brought both my parents up the Bridge, all the way to New Era Dianetics.
When I returned to Israel, many staff tried to recruit me to be a staff member at the Tel Aviv Org. I refused as I wanted to audit my family so as to maintain high exchange with them for all they’ve done for me.
When there was a big need to open the new Ideal Org in Malmo, Sweden, the pressure to join staff became very strenuous. What really tempted me to join, finally, was: 1. I could really contribute to the expansion of Scientology organizations as I always wanted, 2. I would be the Senior Case Supervisor, and 3. That all of my expenses would be taken care of by Malmo Org. Just to remind you – at that time I was still a minor and a foreigner in Sweden so I could not support myself financially, legally. The third point was the most crucial of all, as it concerned my immediate survival.
I joined staff when I received, in writing, a signed CSW, noting that the Org will take care of all of my expenses. Read the rest of this entry »
TO INDEPENDENT SCIENTOLOGISTS:
Re: Expansion Update – Dror AO Academy
We are enjoying expansion like we’ve never seen before.
Last week we held a 2-day Communication Workshop. First day, Thursday evening, I delivered a lecture on ARC, Tone Scale, Interested-Interesting, Overts/Withholds and the Comm Formula. This can be seen, alas in Hebrew, on our site, drorcenter.co.il.
The following day, Friday morning, people drilled TRs for 3 hours with huge wins. 25 people attended, most of them new public. Some who attended have known us for long but refused to come in because we were part of “that cult.” Since the separation from the church we have many more reaches. People know the Tech works, they know we deliver and are caring. They can now be public of Dror Center safely and enjoy the benefits of Hubbard’s Tech.
Of those attending the workshop, three attendees have already started on major services. More are on their way.
Dror AO is Booming:
Our AO is booming with new starts and first-ever’s. We have two pre-OT’s being audited by Tami on NOT’s (OT5) and two more have finished NOT’s review and are ready to go on to Solo NOT’s.
Yesterday, three pre-OT’s have started Solo NOT’s Part A. Two more pre-Clears, who have attested to Grade 4 and are on NED, have started the Solo Course, getting ready to do their OT Levels.
At Dror, the pre-requisite for the Solo Course is Academy Level 0. We now have 3 students on Level 0. They intend to become auditors and are also getting ready for their Solo Courses.
I’m attaching two pictures, # 25 & #36, taken on Oct 27th, in the morning, then in the evening.
Pic 25 shows:
- Eyal Soref, OT5, on Solo NOT’s Part A;
- Moti Weizman, on NED, on Solo Auditor Course;
- Aviv Bershadsky, Class IV & FPRD Auditor, on Audited NOT’s,
on Solo NOT’s Part A;
- Eitan Beitner, Course Sup, auditor trainee on Academy Level 0;
- Alex Shur, OT5, on Solo NOT’s Part A
- Carmela Weizman, Grade 4 Release, on Acad Level 0;
- Galit Latinsky, Grade 2 Release, on Acad Level 0;
- Dima Jitovetsky, Clear, on Solo Auditor Course;
- Alex Shur, Eitan Beitner
Also in the academy yesterday were:
- Dima Dubinin our Class IV auditor who’s on the NED Auditor Course;
- Yoram Dvir, on Student Hat
- Sophie Kogan, on PTS/SP Course.
Public coming back on lines:
Immediately after our “declare,” in July 2012, OSA employed its goons to attempt to destroy us. All our public were harassed with numerous, uninvited, visits at their homes and endless phone calls. A few succumbed under the lies, intimidation and threats, and dropped off our lines. Of these, 4 have already come back. They realized the church can’t deliver, that they were misled. Their letters will soon be published.
Several old-timers, who have been off church lines for years, in despair that they will never make it to OT, are now coming on our lines with enthusiasm. They are moving up the Bridge again with great wins. More stories will be coming from them.
We are creating with joy, knowing we are working ONLY for the public and for Ron.
We have received huge help from our friends, fellow indies. Thank y’all again. Let me know if I can help anyone with support, materials or advice. Love, Dani
My name is Pierre Robillard, and I’ve been a scientologist since 1968. I was on staff from 1969-1993, with the exception of three years in the mid eighties,holding mainly key posts like ED and OES.
I joined staff in Toronto in 1969. My first post was CF I/C. I also held the posts of test evaluator, basic courses supervisor, FBO, Class IV intern and intern super. In july 1974, I was parachuted to Montreal and held the ED MTL post until 1978. I went back to Toronto to do AG training. (predecessor of OSA), acted as AG Toronto, went back to Montreal in 1980 as
AG MTL and ended up from 81 to 83 as OES/Senior C/S. Then there were turbulent times and I ended up as ED kitchener in 1984. I wanted to go back to Montreal. It was refused so I routed off. In 1985, the MTL org was doing very badly and OSA asked me to help as the Investigation officer. In 1988, I re-signed my contract, did the OT levels up to OT 111 and spent the next 5 years as OES and cumulating the C/S post off and on.
I’m a graduate class 1V auditor, NED auditor; I did at Flag the C/S series in clay and I’m a fully trained Intern super. I was also fully trained in 1971 in LA as an FBO. There’s an amusing story on this subject. While I was interning in one of the SO buildings, I was agressed (my shirt ripped) by a man named Wendall Reynolds. I got so mad that they had to call an HCO bring order on me.
Finally, my FBO org officer, Pat Broeker sent me to apologize to Reynolds.
After I finished my last staff contract july 1993, I eventually ended up C/sing in the field, my plan was to C/S at night, send money to Saint-Hill for the briefing course and eventually phase out of my wog job. Well, GAT came upon us. I submitted a plan to continue C/Sing and go train on GAT at Saint-Hill a month a year. This was refused. I was not enthused by this situation. I was losing my right to C/S, my past production was invalidated for what? added drills.
I’ve been fortunate to work twice in a booming org. The first time was in Toronto, early seventies. As I wore, at different times, various posts, I was able to get a concept of a productive org. I worked in div 6 and was part on occasion of the book unit. The org sold at times more than 500 DMSMH books a week. I was not the best book seller but it did raise my confront ( plus as a bonus that’s where I met my wife to be, Heather. I was the FBO toronto in 1972 when Ron sent a telex validating Boston org and Toronto org for financially supporting the INT Management. As an auditor doing my internship in the HGC, I was part of a team auditing 400 hours or more of WDAHs a week (by the way,the HGC was located on top of an old funeral parlor’s garage and the cabins were made of cheap styrofoam). In 1974, I became the Intern Super and I was part of a huge qual that included 2 word clearers, 2 cram offs , a qual receptionist, staff staff auditors, staff staff C/S etc. There was more than 100 people on staff.
The hatting was very important. Besides my FBO training, I was fully hatted as a div 6 personnel, fully hatted as an intern super. The org had OEC/FEBCs trained on the flag ship. Part of the success can be attributed to the great basic courses, especially the HQS course.

Dear friends and fellow Scientologists,
Some of you may have noticed that I haven’t been too active or visible at OTC meetings, OT Ambassador activities (I have been an OT Ambassador since 1995), Int Events, Ideal Org fund raising meetings, Ideal Org openings, etc. over the past many months. I haven’t been back to Flag for about a year.
Some of you may have wondered what’s happened. Well, the truth is, I have been wondering that myself. I have pondered this and even concluded that my withdraw must be caused by my own overts and withholds. I’ve originated this to Tech Terminals at Flag, D of P, Flag MAA, to my FSM and even to close friends (that I must have O/Ws causing withdraw). I have been in session at Flag several times over the past year or two and in metered interviews with MAA. I have also written up OWs. Still, I found myself not really reaching or wanting to participate in these church activities including my own Bridge progress. (And yes, I did complete The Basics about 4 years ago and had good wins).
There just seemed to be these nagging considerations of outpoints that would not as-is, go away. As of this date, my Ethics File at Flag is very empty with the exception of many dozens of Commendations as an OT Ambassador for 17 yrs., Power FSM and Front Lines Disseminator in the WISE Sector for the past 29 years. I’m not saying here that I am some perfect little angel, but those of you who know me, know that I have been an unwavering, staunch supporter and defender of our church, Scientology and LRH for 35 years.
Why am I communicating to you?
“We of the Church believe … that all men have inalienable rights to think freely, to talk freely, to write freely their own opinions and to counter or utter or write upon the opinion of others…” The Creed of the Church of Scientology, 1954. Read the rest of this entry »
